PREP
Arrive normally hydrated. Eat and drink what you know. Do not make race morning a new experiment.
EDMONTON • SEPTEMBER 19
Race weekend is here. Keep hydration simple before, during and after your event with a low-sugar, not-too-sweet formula built for active days.
EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE HALF MARATHON
The EPS Half Marathon is September 19 at Kinsmen Park, with half-marathon, 10K and 5K starts. At this point, the useful plan is simple: prep without experimenting, perform with the routine you know, then recover well after the finish.
For longer sessions, warmer conditions or heavier sweating, a prepared electrolyte drink can be useful. For shorter or easier work, ordinary water and meals may be enough.
BEST HYDRATE
Best Hydrate uses glucose, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, citric acid and lemon powder. Prepared as directed, it contains 1 g of sugar per 100 mL.
Purposeful glucose. Balanced electrolytes. Not too sweet.
Use what you already tolerate on race day. Then keep Best Hydrate in the routine for recovery and the next training block.
PREP • PERFORM • RECOVER
Arrive normally hydrated. Eat and drink what you know. Do not make race morning a new experiment.
Match fluid access to the distance, temperature, sweat and course support. Longer efforts generally create more hydration demand.
Replace meaningful fluid losses, eat normally, rest and sleep. Recovery continues after the finish line.
