June 3, 2026 — Guelph, ON — Hot on the heels of her medal contribution and stunning late-race comeback at the World Athletics Relays in Botswana this past May, 21-year-old Dianna Proctor clocked one of the fastest Canadian times ever by a female athlete in the 400m at the Royal City Inferno Elite Athletics Event in Guelph.

Proctor’s personal-best performance of 51.20 seconds was enough to place the Edmonton-born sprinter among Canada’s all-time top 10 female 400m performers and currently stands as the fastest Canadian women’s 400m time of 2026.

The Elite Women’s 400m featured a star-studded lineup, including Canadian Olympians Lauren Gale and Zoe Sherar. Using her trademark late-race mechanics, Proctor appeared to sail into the lead over the final 50m after moving through the field from a mid-race position.

The Royal City Inferno is part of Athletics Canada’s National Track and Field Tour, a series of high-performance meets held in close proximity to the Canadian Track and Field Championships. These events provide senior athletes with important competitive opportunities as they prepare to peak at Nationals, which will be held in Ottawa from June 17–21, 2026.

The Canadian Track and Field Championships represent one of the major opportunities for selection ahead of this year’s Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026.

Proctor’s performance provides both a mental and physical advantage as the national field enters the final preparation phase before the Canadian Championships in two weeks’ time.
